It is so important for teachers and future educators to always be learning. Teachers have such an important impact on all their students that we, the next generation of teachers, must have as must knowledge as possible to pass down to our students. It is crucial for us to be prepared for any problem that we may have to face inside and out of the classroom. Teachers are always learning new things and I feel that throughout my time in this class, I have learned so much. We took a look at many problems that circulate around schools. Some of these problems include social media, mindfulness, and bullying. Our class, Critical Examination of Issues in Education, allowed me to go in-depth and research material on different subjects that will impact me once I become a teacher.
As our semester ends, my research does not. I will continue learning and analyzing different issues in education. Even those teachers who have already received their degrees are also still learning. As time goes on there will always be things for teachers to learn about. For example, something that is being continued to be taught to teachers of every age is the technology and social media. We shortly touched upon the impacts that growing technology and social media have on education. There are advantages and disadvantages to social media within the schools. As a future secondary school teacher, I feel that social media within the age group of teenagers and young adults, the age group I will one day be teaching, can negatively affect my students. It is my responsibility as a teacher to make sure my students can use the fastly developing technology safely inside the classroom. Ways to do this are to use fun games such as Kahoot and using study guides such as Quizlet.
My hope for myself as I move on from this class is to continue to learn and grow so I can be the possibly best teacher that I can be. Although I do not believe that a "perfect teacher" exists because we are all human and we make mistakes to grow, I think those teachers that do try to be as knowledgeable as possible and try to connect with their students are the teachers that thrive the most. Every student has a teacher that they share a special bond with. Students look up to teachers as role models and it is our duty to be the best role model that we can be for our students. The impact that teachers have not only on students but around the world is drastic and does not get enough recognition. Teachers are such important mentors and I hope once I'm a certified teacher I can live up to those standards.
